SKILLS
Knowledge & Expertise
Communication Audit
During 2021-2022 I lead a group of my peers during a Communication Audit on the apartment complex North 38. It is primarily student housing but also includes many Harrisonburg locals. Inside of this Audit we looked to use four different techniques: a culture scan, a communication systems map, surveys, and interviews. All four of these different techniques provided a different angle to learn which channels of communication worked for the tenants and which channels were not helpful or needed improvement. We Surveyed a total of 60 units and the results and the entire audit are in the link below
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Advanced
Alongside my work experience, I was one of the Philanthropy chairs of my fraternity from 2019 to 2020. During my time as chair I organized safe, socially distanced events which raised $22,000- up 730% from the prior year- for Break the Hold, an institution specializing in mental health research and awareness. Alongside my co-chair we led a social media and on campus campaign through all 96 members of the fraternity alongside Sigma Nu and their members. We were able to properly navigate and plan through the stressful events, which ultimately lead to the drastic change in our donations from the year prior.

Lessons I've learned from certain jobs
Pictured here is a photo of the fences I would repair during my time in Wyoming. Out of all the odd jobs from this seasonal position, repairing the fences was by far my favorite. It took complete cooperation between two of us because each fence pole was around 10 to 12 feet long, which made it extremely difficult to move with the necessary precision if you were it to attempt it alone. I believe this level of cooperation is necessary at all levels of employment, and for this job specifically we were often working hand and hand with one of my bosses. This helped remove all barriers between us for this short time and we would work as equals. Being the only Dude Ranch in Grand Teton National park led to a great deal of wild life such as bison and elk frequently destroying sections of the fence, which led to repeated use of our cooperation skills.
Pictured here is a photo of the back patio at a relatives house. Last year, alongside 5 of my family members and close friends, we poured out this entire patio area, shaped, and smoothed it out. This was a painstaking task and lasted much longer than anticipated, which lead to a multitude of speed bumps along the way. During this job we were faced with many time crunches and lots of stress between all of us. Ultimately we were able to come together and focus on finding the best possible way to reassess the situation and determine the best possible route to move forward with.
